Cartoon blog day 19: Desensitization

CBD19 Desensitisation

This is not new but I wanted to remind that this is happening. Social media websites and applications are great links between people who may not have a connection otherwise with the same level of ease. It’s a great way to spread messages, news, information.

Again the most important question that we must be asking ourselves is one I have mentioned in one of my previous posts: What’s important?

With all the information you receive in one day, or even in one hour how do you decide what is important?

Tragedies are inevitable, imagine a tragedy took place due to a problem in a distant country and people share them on Facebook. And other people share the information and I truly believe that being aware of a problem is the first step towards solving it.

Then we quickly move to another post of a cute puppy playing with a baby. And we somehow feel satisfied for just sharing a tragedy and move on with the next thing we WANT to do.

“Wait, Boris we can’t solve all the problems in the world.” Exactly we can’t solve all the problems in the world alone. I am not saying you have to solve all the problems, just the problems you feel mean enough for you to do something.

For example you see a video of a beach filled with trash. Share the video and think about how you can reduce the waste you produce as an individual, get information on how to reduce waste: use cloth instead of paper, reusable bags instead of plastic and so on. Live by example show, show how people can become the change they want to see in the world.

Cartoon blog day 16: Real meat

CBD16 Real meat.jpg

I find optimism where other people find nihilism. He said ironically.

All jokes aside I totally understand the vegan movement. The current mass production of meat is the result of mass demand. You reduce the demand you reduce the offer.

What can I say that hasn’t been said ?

In my loneliness, I think about ways to contribute to the well being of the environment with the intention of living a GREEN life. However, like most people I tend to choose convenience over quality. For example I have stopped buying paper tissues which I used to carry with me, I replaced paper towels with cloth. Not only do I save money I create less trash.

When it comes to the consumption of meat, I live in Bangkok, Thailand where the food is not only delicious but cheap compared to other BIG Asian cities. As a result, I fill my love for meat everyday.

I remember growing up in India with my brother. My single Mom would would cook  fish and meat only on weekends. I still don’t know if that was part one of the many religious traditions or just because my mother didn’t have enough money to buy meat and fish everyday. Ah I used to be in great shape until I moved to Europe after my high school graduation.

I started eating meat almost on a daily basis after I moved to France 13 years ago.

The above mentioned memory gave me an idea, I don’t want to become VEGAN. Because I believe a healthy human being needs a varied diet. But I plan to eat meat only 5 days per week as a starting point. My goal is to gradually increase these MEATLESS days to 4 (3 days with Meat and 4 days without).

Even better I think they should have an International no MEAT day per week.

Cartoon blog day 12: DILF

CBD12 DILF.jpg

I had this idea after witnessing how obsessed girls are of Caucasian babies here in Bangkok. The other day I saw a girl run towards a parent just to say hi to the baby. I was listening to a podcast where I heard the same thing about dog owners in TINDER (which by the way I am not into).

Now as a man, we might not realize how this is attractive to women. People take the sexist card whenever a man thinks about a sort of programming that we HUMANS are not aware of. But come on, I have to admit when I see a child lost in a mall looking for her mother even for a second I feel the need to protect her to help her find the mother. Should I be ashamed of what I feel for a helpless child?

Now what if I felt the need to help a woman struggling with her luggage does it mean that in my head I am responding to a programming in which Women are weaker than me?

At first people get scared in front of all these questions that men didn’t have to think about. I am not different when it comes to the relationship with women. But I am more interested in questions than answers maybe that’s the wanna be philosopher in me.

This is part of a long chain of changes to come, the human society is organizing itself in a different way. The best thing to do is to listen. NOT RUN.

Cartoob blog day 9: Attachment

We are not talking about e-mail attachments, as I get older I begin to understand that we need a healthy balanced distance between the things in our lives. Whether it’s SPORTS, WORK, or playing VIDEO GAMES you have to have a healthy distance from these bubbles.

Don’t get too obsessed with WORK because we don’t live to work, we work to live; Don’t get too obsessed with SPORTS at the end of the day it’s a game with people sometimes not from the same country wearing the same uniform to play; Don’t get too attached to hobbies like GAMING well because you need to have also a social life.

Now you might say it’s easily said that done…

This is where ART comes in. I have realized that the test to see whether you are too attached to something can be revealed when you are having conversations about that (those) particular bubble(s). Because conversations keep things in check, not only individually but for societies. And what is better than to laugh at yourself when a stand up comedian makes fun of a gamer in a clever way. You may feel uncomfortable at first but STAND UP comedy done right is ART and your laughter can be liberating and put things in perspective which is why I firmly believe in the idea of artists to say what they want.
