CARTOON BLOG DAY 41: Is self love overrated?

I have  a theory that hatred towards others is the result of a projection we make of ourselves onto others, when these projections represent what we consider positive sides of ourselves we like that person and if these projections represent what we consider negative sides of ourselves we hate that person. 

So people who actually hate other people hate a part of who they are inside. 

I have heard of self love a lot of times. When someone says that they are not attractive their best friend (to console him/her) tells that person, “you need to like yourself otherwise how would others like you?” 

But love doesn’t make you a better person. self awareness does. So try to understand yourself and try to improve yourself on a day to day basis. You can admire other people, you can even have mentors, but don’t compare yourself to others (which we naturally do). Just try to be the best version of yourself you can be and don’t be afraid to talk about it. Talk with your friends but also talk with strangers because they will be honest and won’t be afraid to offend you. 

Don’t just love yourself, find a good reason to love yourself.

cartoon blog day 40: SPLIT

I believe there is an unexpressed frustration or suffering people in minority groups go through. Let’s take the example of European expats in Asia. I know this is true in India, I have discovered it’s similar in Thailand too when it comes to the way Caucasian people are perceived. To put it simply almost everybody thinks Caucasian people are rich. 

Food panda is a delivery service in Thailand. When I  was talking to someone in a meetup event from Japan. He expressed his surprise to see a Caucasian person riding a food panda scooter. 

Of course, there are reasons for this, we see images of privilege, the higher quality lifestyle from Europe, the United States and so on, not to mention the exchange rate of currencies. 

No matter where you are from, travelling to a country which is not even aware of your mother tongue can throw you off, however, it’s an experience I recommend to everyone. 

No matter how different the experiences are just remember to not be afraid, by putting yourself out of your comfort zone you have taken to road to wisdom and humility.

cartoon blog day 39: Writing is thinking

People need to write, because writing is a form of thinking. 

First of all because it forces you to make sense, writing allows you to organize your thoughts. As I do it more and more I am also realizing that I can find the contradictions in my reasoning. 

I started writing this blog with cartoons because I have a lot of things to say. As different my ideas are from each other, they seem to coexist without collapsing and without me ending in an asylum (Do they still call it like that?).

So writing allows me to connect these ideas. I don’t even know if I should say I am lost or I was lost when it came time to decide who I am going TO BE, things I am going TO DO. Then I put all the things I do for no good reason other than to express myself. 

I will share the diagram I came up with the next time.

cartoon blog day 38: you didn’t expect that 2/2

(Please read the part1 of this post from the day before to get some context)

If we all come from a single point of origin, I can hardly believe the argument “We are all the same” but I can stand behind “We are all connected”.

First of all, think physically, you are not in a bubble even if you are not surrounded by people all the time. Think about the device you are reading this blog on. Can you imagine how many people were involved to get this product in your hands? 

OK let’s leave the physical for the moment, you actions are determined by your programming from people you have encountered which in turn will influence the way people people see you, creating a cycle. Figure out if this cycle is what you want in life, you can always break it. 

When people say “CHANGE THE WORLD”, as monumental as it may seem, they actually mean : “Change the perception others have of you”. Become the change you want to see in the world and I am not the first person to say this. If you want to become a writer, just start writing and start sharing.

cartoon blog day 41: My diagram

I made a decision to find what I love doing and get paid to do what I love. 

So the hardest is and will be to figure out how one goes about finding his or her dream. For me, it came from the people I look up to, people who I consider to be my mentors whom I have never met and maybe will never meet in my life. 

But I admired their work, I loved the impact they’ve had on me so I wanted to have that same impact on other people so we can share this joy created by art through artists. 

When I say people, I am talking about Filmmakers, Authors of books, Speakers, Philosophers, intellectuals, Stand-up comedians, Comic book artists and Artists in general. 

Even when I give all these people different categories, different jobs, they are all ARTISTS, in that they are masters at what they do. One example would be Neil Gaiman, the author of such books as AMERICAN GODS and the brilliant Sandman comic book series. 

Now I felt that I was torn between all these endeavors, but somehow I remained intact and happy while doing videos about movies, talking about movies, making cartoons, writing blogs, making tutorial videos for drawing, working on my web comic series and so on. 

So I put everything I do online on a paper to see if it makes sense, and it did, so much so it was not a table I was able to come up with, but a circle where everything is connected with me at the center of it. 

I know people say you should focus on one thing before you move on to another, for the moment I can’t maybe later I will have the maturity to do so, but for the moment this is who I am (I’ve put the links to those platforms below the diagram):
