Cartoon blog day 15: Projections vs reality

CDB15 Projections vs reality

I am not going to argue about  the existence nor the definition of LOVE, at least not yet. But I do want to talk about our mental projections onto people.

When I look back on my relationships I’ve had with women, I realize what most men wouldn’t admit or maybe didn’t give any thought to:

The women I have been more attached to emotionally reminded me in some way of my mother.

There, now that I’ve admitted that let’s hope that you’ll feel more comfortable with me from now on.

We do put on a mask when go out, when we are out of our comfort zone. The same way you not only make assumptions about the people you encounter, you also assume their impression of you.

To finish today’s ramble, for those who want to engage in a relationship with that woman just based on her sexy looks just keep this in mind. JUST BECAUSE SHE IS SEXY IT DOESN’T MEAN SHE IS GOOD IN BED.

What? Too soon?

Bonne journée.

Cartoon blog day 14: Money goals

Hey I tried to color my cartoon today because I had more time.

CBD14 Money goals

I heard some people have even planned what age they are going to die, what age the are going to retire and so on. But I cannot emphasize this enough, i truly believe that enjoying the experience, the process is a healthier way to live.

Maybe this comes from the fact that in schools we are trained to get good grades, good results even if you are even interested in learning at all.

Even in case of marriages, if you are getting married to have a family what happens after you have a child and the child grows up and leaves the house? I still feel that most relationships are means to an end not an end in itself.

Is that why, couples gets separated after their kids grow up?

At the same time I have never been married and I am single at the moment so maybe I am not the best person to listen to.

What are your money goals?

Bonne Journée.

Cartoon blog day 13: Corporate culture

I used to work for a multinational company in the automotive industry. I don’t know how much money the company spent on building a “corporate culture”, needless to say it felt important.

There is nothing wrong with that, after all, you have people from different cultures working together towards company’s goals.

I am still not sure whether this corporate culture is a solution to cultural differences or a genuine attempt to make employees feel like they belong in a social structure. You have probably heard Managers’ speeches like “We are a family”. (Then what about my real family?)

As you might have noticed I referred to the corporate culture as a possible solution which means cultural differences are seen as problems.

But cultural differences are problems only when faced with the method that the company followed so far to get successful results. A Japanese company follows a Japanese approach, a French company follows a French approach and so on.

Cultural differences are not problems, they are part of our reality.

I feel that these differences are not discussed in all honesty not only because of their complexity but also in fear of offending someone in the process. It’s like a relationship in a couple if you don’t address the differences they will build up exponentially. But people won’t talk about them, because it’s easier to break up than to lose your job.

Bonne journée.

Cartoon blog day 12: DILF

CBD12 DILF.jpg

I had this idea after witnessing how obsessed girls are of Caucasian babies here in Bangkok. The other day I saw a girl run towards a parent just to say hi to the baby. I was listening to a podcast where I heard the same thing about dog owners in TINDER (which by the way I am not into).

Now as a man, we might not realize how this is attractive to women. People take the sexist card whenever a man thinks about a sort of programming that we HUMANS are not aware of. But come on, I have to admit when I see a child lost in a mall looking for her mother even for a second I feel the need to protect her to help her find the mother. Should I be ashamed of what I feel for a helpless child?

Now what if I felt the need to help a woman struggling with her luggage does it mean that in my head I am responding to a programming in which Women are weaker than me?

At first people get scared in front of all these questions that men didn’t have to think about. I am not different when it comes to the relationship with women. But I am more interested in questions than answers maybe that’s the wanna be philosopher in me.

This is part of a long chain of changes to come, the human society is organizing itself in a different way. The best thing to do is to listen. NOT RUN.

Bonne journée.

Cartoon blog day 11: Minimalism

Two years ago I watched a documentary aptly named MINIMALISM. At the time I was jobless because that’s when I quit my previous job to pursue my dream of making comics and sharing my ideas with cartoons. Needless to say I needed money and I had to move from my expensive apartment, Actually I move constantly as I mentioned in one of my earlier posts, I left India after graduating from high school, I lived in France, I lived in UK for an exchange program, then I went back to France and left to work in Germany after graduating from University. While in Germany I moved to two different cities and then I came to Bangkok, Thailand where I am correctly living on a teacher’s salary.

So I had to detach myself from the items I have bought because I hate moving and I wanted to travel light. After watching the documentary I realized that especially when it comes to clothes I only wear 60% of what was in my wardrobe, again and again. Your ratio maybe different. So I decided to donate the 40% and I still to this day I don’t miss those clothes.

So i decided to buy new clothes only if the ones I have become unusable which means I would not ADD but only REPLACE maintaining the inventory.

Now for so many people who are true minimalists this is not exactly what is Minimalism hey that’s why I made today’s Cartoon.

So far it’s been easy for me. First, I save money by not impulse buying T-shirts that I would never wear after a first time. second, I learned through a friend that we make way many clothes than we need, and after watching an episode of John Oliver’s LAST WEEK TONIGHT about clothes and fashion, I am sure they still use child labor to produce these clothes, because we can’t check these big companies and their subcontractors constantly.

I know it’s like finding  a global reason to continue doing what you decided to do because you wanted to save money I read in the book Enigma of Reason by Hugo Mercier and Dan Sperber that in most cases we make decisions and find reasons for them afterwards.
